So, this weekend I had some automotive troubles keeping me from hitting the lake. Can’t tow the boat? Can’t go to the lake! I should have that fixed next week when I replace the battery in the expedition. I think it’s throwing a temper tantrum because I’m thniking about upgrading it. Get over it…

This was a blessing in disguise…

Friday the better half and I were wandering around town and ended up at Hastings to see if there was anyting exciting on the shelves. Low and behold I ended up in the horror section. Big surprise, right? Since I’m not an avid reader outside of blogs, forums, and work material, I hadn’t ready many of the titles there. As I glanced through all of the series and one offs, I came across one I have read “World War Z”. That was decent, but as I focused in on it my eyes were drawn to another, J. L. Bourne’s “Day by Day Armageddon”. As I pulled it off the shelf I wasn’t sure what I had, but the cover (see below) looked like it might be about zombies, and armageddon is right up my alley. Now, I love all things zombie and post apocalyptic (PA) and this touched on both in a big way.

Fast forward to today and I’m a day past finishing it, and I loved it. I had a hard time putting it down, and only really did when my eyes got fatigued. Great way to pass the weekend when I couldn’t do much else. If you’re into PA fiction or zombies, I thing you may want to pick this up. I’ll be picking up volume II later this week.

Yeah, it’s a bit narcissistic, but I’m wishing my self a happy birthday. So far today I am very happy, and having a good day. I am at work, which is a bummer, but such is life. After 5 I’ll be heading toward a nice 2-week vacation, and that’s a great B-day gift. I’ve got a ton of friend FB’ing me a happy b-day so that gives me the warm fuzzies. I’m hoping to hit the lake this afternoon, but I’ve got some other stuff I need to take care of so it may be a futile effort. We’ll see! Have fun today guys!

Up again, and excited!!!

Made it up on the board almost every time yesterday, and even made it in and out of the wake a few times. Fewer face plants made a better day. We’re gonna head back out shortly, and I’m gonna try it some more. I’m taking a more aggressive line towards the wake, but sometimes the landing isn’t quite what it should be. I’m definitely feeling more stable, and having a good time learning. I really want to get to the point that I can land a wake to wake (W2W) jump. Someday…

In other news, I need to get to work on the jeep. The mice have torn up all the wiring and I think it’s time to do “nutter’s bypass”. Once I get on it, I’ll post up.

It’s still crappy outside, so we’re stuck inside. I decided it was time to pull some pics off the camera. Nothing super special, just my attempts at riding the wake at clear creek. Something I’d like to be doing today. I’m really hoping I can get back out there tomorrow. Tonight we are looking at going to the next town over to watch fireworks and see the band. They canceled it due to rain last week. Good times…

I’ve been wanting to hit the lake for the past 2 days and it’s beautiful in the morning, but raining in the afternoon. Argh! Maybe tomorrow, but definitely this weekend.

It wasn’t the most beautiful day, and there was WAY too much wind, but we got out and played. Was up on the wakeboard and back down again. All in all we had a ton of fun. Happy birthday America!!!

So much for camping this weekend. It’s supposed to rain, and it looks rather ominous outside. We’re still going to hit the water, but instead of beaching and staying there, we’ll trailer it home. No biggie! Time to practice with the wakeboard…

Setup the pop-up…

We setup the pop-up last night, and while it’s not the latest and greatest, I think it’ll sure beat sleeping on the ground. We’ve got some broken zippers, a couple of tears, and that mildew smell, but all in all it’s not too bad. Tonight I plan on sewing the zippers together, and getting it closer to ready for use. This is a stepping stone. I hope to one day have either a 5th wheel RV or 5th wheel toy hauler for the Jeep. Until then, we’re happy with what we’ve got.

We’re getting to the point that we are in need of a vehicle that can fit the family and tow our ever growing collection of toys. This morning we saw an add for 2010 Dodge’s that sparked our interest. If this is something we go for, I’ll only want to look at a 3/4 or 1 ton 4×4 diesel. Nothing else will do since it’ll be a permanent fixture for our family. I’m a ford man, but the deal may be too good to pass up. We’ll see!
